- The Mine has been allotted to WBPDCL by Ministry of Coal , Govt of India , vide Allotment Order No 103/10/2015/NA dated 31.03.2015
- M/s Sical Mining Ltd the SPV of Sical Logistics Ltd is selected as Mine Developer & Operator for this mine and Coal Mining Agreement was signed on 27.10.2016
- Application has been submitted to Coal Controller, Govt of India, for obtaining mine re-opening permission.
- The mine re-opening permission was obtained from Coal Controller , Govt of India on 17.03.2020
- The mine was re-opened by WBPDCl on 18.03.2020

Brief description of the Mine
The Tara (East & West) Coal Mines is located in the Burdwan District of West Bengal State. It is bounded by the latitudes 23o45’30”N to 23o47’45”N and longitudes 87o04’00”E to 87o07’15”E.
The Tara (East & West) Coal Mines covers an area of about 8 sq. km. and lies in the northern part of the Raniganj Coalfield in the Paschim Burdwan District.
The Tara (East & West) Coal Mines is also approachable both by rail and road. The Andal-Gourangdih section of the Eastern Railway passed through the eastern and north-eastern part of the block in a south-east to north-west direction. The Churulia-Dohomani road which connects the G.T. Road with Ajoy Ghat passes through the western part of the block.
The Tara (East and West) coal block has six co-relatable coal seams.
The reserve of the mine is 17.78 Million Tonne ( Open cast )
The Average stripping ratio is 1: 10.72
The Peak rated capacity of the mine is 4 Million Tonne/ year
